An Essential Fishing Guide South Carolina

Outdoor activities provide rare opportunities to have fun and strengthen friendships and family ties. Angling is one of such events but requires adequate preparation for it to be enjoyable. Thus with a fishing guide South Carolina can be a wonderful destination for this sport.

To succeed in this sport, you need adequate preparation and planning before you embark on any angling trip. If you have never gone angling before consider taking a few lessons form a seasoned angler. Also, ensure that you have the necessary licenses and equipments you require for the sport.

Choose the location you would like to go angling wisely. If it is far from your home, plan for accommodation in advance and take with you clothes which suit the prevailing weather conditions. Avoid areas experiencing thunderstorms as they may pose the risk of lightning strikes.

A good angler observes all rules and regulations set out by the local authorities to protect natural resources. Information about laws governing angling can be obtained at all licensing agents thus every fisherman has no excuse for ignorance. Desist from temptations to violate these guidelines as these may land you into legal woes and subsequent cancellation of your license.

It is also required, as a good angler that you conduct yourself respectfully in the midst of fellow anglers. Be considerate when using common. Dispose fish remains responsibly and exercise caution at all times to avoid accidents.

With a fishing guide south carolina anglers can also know how to safely release unwanted fish into the water. This is because causing the fish much stress and inflicting many wounds on it can lead to its death shortly after it is set free. The time the fishes are kept out of water also needs to be as short as possible to increase their chances of survival.

A Balanced Look at Taking Up Fishing

Fishing is among the most popular outdoor sports that people enjoy, no matter their age. There are places where you can easily go fishing, no matter where you live. Read on to learn some tips that you may want to try. These tips may help make fishing even more fun for you.

Keep fishing, even if you’re not catching as many fish as you would like. To succeed at fishing you must exercise patience. If you’re investigating a new fishing spot, give it at least 30 minutes before deciding whether it’s a worthwhile area. There are many variables that can impact fishing, including time of day and excessive movement.

A dull hook can be a fisherman’s worst enemy, a sharp hook, his best friend. Unless the hook is very sharp, you will have a difficult time keeping anything on it. Sharpen your hooks, or buy new ones before setting out on your fishing trip.

Instead of open water, try fishing near structures in the water, such as fallen trees, river banks, and anything else that might serve as shelter to many types of fish. Fish congregate around these structures, and you can catch a great deal of them if you fish in these areas. You could even catch a large bass when fishing closely to the shore.

Bass can be caught by using grubs. These little guys can help you reel in some very large fish. They are useful in catching small and largemouth bass. This is especially true when fishing in low coverage areas, such as highland reservoirs.

Do not throw out dead minnows. Even a dead minnow can catch a fish for you. Dead bait can be made attractive by slicing it to release the scents that attract fish.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money on equipment when first learning to fish. If you’re new to fishing, don’t buy a very expensive rod. Choose a rod based on the store expert’s suggestion based on your experience, location of fishing and fish type you wish to catch.

Take care to not cause a fire when fishing on shore. A lot of people smoke when they’re fishing, and you need to make sure that the embers you light do not start a fire. While the bank might be wet, there is dry foliage all around that can easily catch on fire.

Put your bait low to the ground if you’re looking for catfish since they’re bottom feeders. Use live bait and weight it so that it is near the bottom of the lake, as the catfish will not typically venture up to get it.

All kinds of people enjoy the hobby of fishing. Fishing allows you to spend a lot of time in the peaceful beauty of outdoors, with friends, family or by yourself. Learning the ins and outs of fishing will help you quickly transition from the rank of pure novice. You will be fishing like the pros in no time. Keep these ideas in mind and get your initial expedition planned right away.

Wayne Rooney Scores Twice In Man U Victory Over AC Milan

Manchester United is in good shape to advance to the Champions League soccer quarterfinals following a 3-2 win over AC Milan at the San Siro. The competition itself was overshadowed by the fact that it was the first time that David Beckham had played against his old team since leaving Old Trafford in 2003, and Wayne Rooney squashed Milan’s early hopes with two goals to put the game on ice. Clarance Seedorf scored at the 85 minute mark to make the score respectable, but Man U controlled play after the halftime break. Now barring a complete collapse on their home field, Manchester United is well placed to advance.

AC Milan got on the board first just three minutes into the game as Beckham set up Ronaldinho’s goal that sent the San Siro into a frenzy. Paul Scholes evened the score at the 36 minute mark and the teams went into the halftime break tied at 1-1. Rooney would net his first goal at the 66 minute mark and would score again just 8 minutes later to give Man U a 3-1 lead.

The 24 year old Rooney is becoming recognized as one of the best strikers in soccer. He’s now got 25 goals on the year with 19 games left to play. He’s also received high marks from the soccer press for his playmaking, heady play and overall attitude. The consensus is that he’s already one of the best in the world and is only getting better.

After the game, Beckham graciously complimented Rooney on his play and suggested that he receive consideration for the World Player of the Year award:

“I hope he is a contender for the World Player of the Year and the Ballon D’Or. I would love to see him win every title possible. I have seen Wayne from being a young lad. I played in his debut for England and I have watched him score goals week in and week out ever since. It is amazing to see.”

“He looks after himself and works hard. The way he plays is the way he trains. That is why he is so good and why Wayne is ready for any game. It doesn’t matter how many games he has played or how many he will be involved in to the end of the season, he will be ready for anything.”

There’s a good chance that Beckham and Rooney will be teammates on England’s World Cup team this summer. Beckham made note of that fact:

“I wouldn’t want to see him do it again against us in a few weeks but of course I’d like it in the World Cup.”

Rooney’s sizzling play and Beckham’s veteran leadership and dominant free kicks are a big reason why England is among the World Cup betting favorites before the team has even been made official. England will start World Cup play on June 12 against the United States. England is a +600 choice to win the World Cup, third favorite behind Spain and Brazil.

Hall Of Famer Coleman Pink Slipped By UFC

Not too long ago, Mark Coleman headlined UFC 109 facing Randy Couture. Several days later, he’s apparently no longer good enough to remain in the UFC at all. On Wednesday, following a lopsided loss to Couture the UFC released Coleman from his contract and cut the veteran heavyweight. Coleman is now free to sign with any other promotion, but at 46 years of age his most likely-and most advisable-course of action is retirement. Fighters seldom do the ‘most advisable’ thing, however, and his actual plans are unknown at the moment.

Coleman became the first UFC fighter to be cut immediately after headlining a PPV event. Others have left due to drug test failures or for other opportunities, but none have ever been cut from their contract. Sources close to the UFC suggest that it was a decision no one wanted to make, but that all felt was unavoidable due to Coleman’s age and deteriorating skills. On the other hand, its interesting that the UFC sees fit to keep any number of other aging fighters with deteriorating skills on the payroll but not a Hall of Famer in Coleman.

While the fact that Coleman is a shell of the fighter he was at his prime, the UFC’s suggestion that they have his best interest at heart is somewhat duplicitous. He was kept around and booked into last Saturday’s fight–a fight that no one particularly had any interest in seeing in the first place–simply because he was a fighter that Randy Couture could beat. Were the UFC interested in the well being of their aging fighters there’s several others on the roster that should also be cut for the same justification as Coleman. Couture, Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell are all well past their prime but they’re still under contract and will all likely fight again. No one really wants to see these relics fight, but the UFC has long had a policy that what their fan base wants to see is of minimal importance.

Coleman’s age has never been a secret and his diminished skill level was evident to anyone who has watched his recent fights. If the UFC was really interested in his physical well being, the main event against Couture should have never taken place. The fight itself wasn’t exactly one that UFC fans had been clamoring for and one that met with derision from the MMA media from the time it was announced. The fact that the PPV buyrate for the event will end up as one of the lowest in recent history pretty much sums up the story.

While retirement would be in Coleman’s best interest, he may attempt to fight in a smaller US promotion or in Japan where he’s well known from his time in PRIDE. He’s already a member of the UFC Hall of Fame with a 26-10 career record and has fought the best in the world including Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mirko Cro Cop.

Argonauts Drop Ninth Straight Home Game, Lose To Lions

Its been a rough stretch of CFL football for the Toronto Argonauts, and they may have hit rock bottom on Friday night. The Argos appeared to be on the verge of breaking their eight game home losing streak, entering the fourth quarter with a 25-14 lead but ended up on the wrong end of a 36-28 final score that ran their streak of futility at the Rogers Centre to nine games. It was also Toronto’s ninth consecutive loss to BC. BC improved to 3-4 with the victory, while Toronto’s record slipped to 2-5.

Lions head coach Wally Buono made no excuses for his teams bad first half followed by a solid second half:

“I’m not going to apologize for playing well in the second half. If we play any kind of football in the first half maybe we don’t have to do this. That’s football. Nobody asks you at the end of the day whether you stole a win, they ask you how many games did you win? The game is 60 minutes.”

Lions QB Jarious Jackson echoed his coachs sentiments:

“I don’t feel like we stole one at all. I feel like we went out and played like we should’ve played in the second half. Most of the first half we were trying to manage the game, trying to see what they were doing defensively. Offensively, you definitely want to manage the game until you know what the defence is going to call in some situations. It took us the first half but I think in the second half we kind of were able to predict what they were going to do and I think we did a good job of countering it.”

Despite the loss, Toronto was generally pleased with the play of their replacement starting QB Cody Pickett. Pickett was named the starter after a dismal performance by Kerry Joseph the previous week against Montreal. After the game, Pickett was less concerned about his performance than his teams struggles:

“It’s 20/20 that we needed to score another touchdown. Whatever we’re doing right now isn’t getting the job done.”

Argos head coach Bart Andrus was pleased with Picketts play in the losing cause:

“That was an ideal performance. Cody threw it well, was accurate and didn’t turn it over. The bottom line is we didn’t finish that one. When we do get it right for 60 minutes, it’s going to be a great thing.”

BC will welcome the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to Vancouver next Friday night. Toronto has a bye week, with the Calgary Stampeders providing the opposition on August 28th.

San Diego To Be Without ‘LT’ For Second Straight Week

LaDanian Tomlinson is still not fully recovered from a sprained right ankle, and as a result hell miss his second consecutive NFL regular season game this Sunday. Tomlinson was hurt in the San Diego Chargers season opening victory over the Oakland Raiders and didn’t play last week. The Chargers are slated to host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon.

After playing in eight consecutive regular season games last year, the superstar running back has missed three of the Chargers last four games. Most significant was last January, when a groin injury kept LT out of the Chargers AFC playoff loss to the eventual Superbowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

When asked about his injury, Tomlinson refused comment:

“I don’t have a comment about it. It is what it is.”

Until his recent bouts with injury, Tomlinson had been one of the most durable running backs in the league. Prior to last season, the only start hed missed in his career was the season finale in 2004 when then-coach Marty Schottenheimer rested Tomlinson and other starters in advance of the NFL playoffs.

While Tomlinson himself was tight lipped, his coach Norv Turner spoke about his injury:

“It’s hard because you’d like to have all your guys. It’s crazy, because on Sept. 1, when people were asking me what I thought about camp, I said it was great that we were healthy and had all our guys, because that’s something we haven’t had in a while.

“I think we’re doing the right thing with L.T. Obviously he couldn’t play this week, you know, but he’s getting better and hopefully he’ll be able to go next week. if not, he’ll be ready to go when the bye’s over.”

The Chargers also have a half dozen players listed as questionable due to flu like symptoms. Turner spoke about their prognosis:

“I think we’re beyond the guys who had it. I obviously have a concern that they’re not too drained, but I think we have a couple days to get them back. My concern is what’s going to pop up tomorrow morning or Sunday morning because obviously it’s going through the building.”

Darren Sproles started in LTs place last week, and has performed well this season. Sproles, who also returns kickoffs and punts, had 524 all purpose yards in two games this season. Hes not as powerful a back as Tomlinson, but is a heady player who uses his speed and elusiveness to pick up yardage.

The Chargers are a -6 home favorite against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday, with the total set at 44. The first half line on the game is San Diego -3 with the total set at 21. San Diego will travel to the Steel City of Pittsburgh next Sunday to face the Superbowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, and then enjoy a much needed bye week.

Kobe Bryant a ‘Game Time Decision’ For Monday Night

The Los Angeles Lakers dodged a bullet on Saturday night when an ankle injury suffered by Kobe Bryant turned out to be less cruel than originally probable. Still, the team is taking no possibility. Team officials are calling the injury a ‘sprain’ and while it’s not considered serious he may not be immediately available. On Sunday, Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson said that Kobe would be a ‘game time decision’ for Monday night’s game against the Orlando Magic.

Kobe said that the injury was the scariest of his career:

“I believed I was done, like done. I was just imploring that when I stood up my foot was lined up straight. … That scared the s— out of me. I thought I dislocated it.”

“We were all pretty afraid … to be sincere with you because it looked horrible and it felt worse.”

Kobe didn’t earn the nickname ‘The Black Mamba’ for being a lightweight, and after a quick journey to the locker room returned to the bench in the fourth quarter where he informed Jackson he could go back in:

“I asked him if he wanted to play. But he was there, and he said ‘Yeah, I’m here to play.’ He got back out there and assisted us win it, but he was moving less than 100 percent.”

Kobe originally injured his ankle several days previous in Atlanta and re-aggravated it on Saturday. Jackson said that a few games off might not be the most horrible thing for Kobe or the team at this point:

“The big thing about Kobe last year is he played through a lot of damage and then sat out for six games, and I thought it helped him out overall.”

Explaining Kobe’s position for Monday’s game, Jackson continued:

“He’ll be a game-time result. We expect he’ll be able to play.”

Finally, Jackson admitted, if Kobe’s healthy enough to play he’s going to play:

“It would be fabulous to have him have additional days off to get better, but if he’s capable of playing, he’ll play.”

The Lakers do catch a scheduling break after Monday’s game against the Magic. They have four days off until their next game, and that’s against the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves. They then have another two days until their next ‘competitive’ game versus the Portland Trailblazers who are a potential first round playoff matchup. Due to the ambiguity of Kobe’s availability the Lakers/Magic game is now ‘off the board’ for NBA betting.

Smith, Rice Receive NFL Hall Of Fame Call

Widely considered to be the best running back and wide receiver to ever play in the league, Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice were inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame on Saturday night in Canton, Ohio. Smith and Rice headlined a group of seven inductees that also included John Randle, Dick LeBeau, Rickey Jackson, Russ Grimm and Floyd Little.

Former Dallas Cowboy great Emmitt Smith entered the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. During his career he rushed for 18,355 yards with 164 touchdowns and had 11 seasons with 1,000 or more yards on the ground. He won three Superbowl championships during his career and was named the game’s MVP in 1994. Smith gave these comments in his induction speech:

“Most people only dream. I not only had my childhood dream, I did everything I could to fulfill it. “You know what, I am now the all-time leading rusher. Wow. What an honor.”

“When I go into the hall today, I am not going in alone. I am carrying my grandfather, I’m carrying my father and I’m carrying my son along with me because I bear all their names. Now I can say to my dad and my son, EJ, our name will be forever enshrined in the history of football.”

Jerry Rice, who played most of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, is the owner of every significant receiving record. During his 20 year career he caught 1,549 passes. He gained 22,895 yards, which is 7,600 yards ahead of second place. He scored 208 touchdowns, another all time best for a wide receiver. He also made receptions in an almost-unimaginable 274 consecutive games, a mark that may never be broken. Rice was known as one of the hardest workers in sports, but ironically he said in his induction speech that was his only regret:

“My single regret about my career is I never took the time to enjoy it. I was always working.”

“I was afraid to fail. The fear of failure is the engine that has driven me my entire life. The reason they never caught me from behind is because I ran scared. People always are surprised how insecure I was. The doubts, the struggles, is who I am. I wonder if I would have been as successful without them.”

Rice moved from the low profile of Mississippi Valley State College to win three Super Bowls and redefine the role of the wide receiver in the modern game. He won three Superbowls with the San Francisco 49ers.

Redskins To Stay With Zorn As Coach For Now

Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn is off of the hot seat-at least temporarily. After a recent swoon that saw him stripped of play calling duties for the NFL team, Zorn got a vote of confidence from upper management on Friday. His head isn’t entirely out of the noose, however, as the reprieve will last only to the end of the season unless some marked improvement is seen in the second half. The Redskins’ defense has played well this year but their offense has been marked by a profound lack of productivity.

Executive Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato had the following statement:

“Jim Zorn is the head coach of the Washington Redskins and will be for the rest of this season, and hopefully into the future.”

“The frustration is very high, everywhere around here. But the relationships internally within this organization, quite frankly, remain the same.”

For his part, Zorn was nonplussed by the vote of ‘semi-confidence’:

“I don’t necessarily have a reaction to that because I am the head coach. I want to be here for the next 10 years. That’s my story.”

While he didn’t express much personal relief from the management statement, he said he hoped it would benefit his players:

“If it comforts the players – awesome! But I think our players are focused regardless of what the situation is. Whatever has to be said, I guess it has to be said, but we go on.”

Quarterback Jason Campbell sounded relieved that the drama was over for the time being:

“That should relieve a lot of tension and a lot of stress. Guys don’t have to worry about thinking about it or talking about it. We were the soap opera for the NFL the last two weeks so hopefully it’ll calm down a little bit.”

Ceratto also had a different take on the removal of Zorn’s play calling duties:

“Look at all the things that we’ve done to try to help. You could have done other things drastically. No, you have confidence in him, because you want him to do well. Hopefully we can just concentrate and focus on winning football games.

He also expressed confidence in offensive consultant-and new offensive playcaller-Sherm Lewis’ ability to do the job:

“You don’t forget how to ride a bike if you hadn’t rode your bike in four years.”

The Redskins have slumped to a 2-4 record in the early part of the NFL season despite being the first team in league history to play six straight games against winless teams. The Redskins two wins came against the St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers who have a combined 0-12 record. Washington will host the Philadelphia Eagles this Monday night before a bye week. After the bye, they’ll return to action on the road against the Atlanta Falcons on November 8.

Early Season Striped Bass Fishing on Cape Cod

I’ve experienced a great winter season, so I hope you have enjoyed a happy and enjoyable winter season. I’ve got my fingers crossed that this winter’s warm weather conditions are going to bode very well for the upcoming 2012 striped bass fishing season. With a little luck the winds is going to be calm and the bass will be numerous.

The first reports of migrating Cape Cod striped bass should start trickling in about a month from now. When I was younger we would catch our first striped bass of the season from the Weweantic and Agawam Rivers in Wareham. Mid to late-April was prime time for these areas.

Other early season Cape Cod hot spots include various estuaries and creeks in Buzzard’s Bay, along with the estuaries and harbors along the southside of the Cape. Bluefish can also be caught early in May off South Cape and Popponesset. These early season blues will more than likely be feeding on squid, which makes for exciting top water plugging opportunities.

The first few striped bass of the season are generally on the tinier side. Having said that much larger striped bass will arrive by the first week of May. Buzzard’s Bay has produced quite well in the past few springs for anglers that can locate the birds utilising radar. Sometimes these large schools of stripers carry on northward throughout the Cape Cod Canal and into Cape Cod Bay.

On the subject of spring striped bass migration passages, MarineFisheries has released some fascinating results originating from a striper tagging investigation that commenced in 2008. Of 128 striped bass hooked and tagged from Stellwagen Bank, 74% made use of the Cape Cod Canal throughout their once-a-year northwardly spring migration.

Interestingly enough only 35% of these bass used the Canal during their annual southwardly fall migration. This study coincides pretty well with what Canal fishermen have been observing all along. Great spring time fishing, followed by somewhat disappointing fall runs.

We’ll have to hold on and see precisely what the 2012 Cape Cod fishing season brings!

Acquiring The Right Type Of Fishing Rod

Taking the inconvenient out of fishing for a variety of reasons are fishing rod holders. For one thing, this is considered as convenient storage device especially if one is in a kayak. It’s not necessary for you to hold the paddle in between the legs while fishing because a fishing rod holder will store the rod in place so anyone can now carry multiple rods or even multiple paddles if they so insist. As the holder keeps the fishing rod in place while one is traveling to a number of fishing spots, then trolling is also made easier. When unhooking a caught fish, rod holders also keep the rod secure. Another important thing to remember is that they are also helpful in catching more fish at the same time enabling a kayak look extremely well-designed and versatile.

Here are some tips that could prove helpful in order to determine the types of fishing rods one should purchase.

Whether to attach or not to attach

Basically, there are two types of fishing rod holder: one that is put in the flush and the other one could be attached to the exterior of the kayak. Both have different functions and both work well accordingly. When you are deciding, it will depend on what you prefer to use and how you plan on using it.

For those who chose the unattached

The straight and the angled are the two forms of the unattached type fishing rod holders. The angled form is what most kayaks make sure of. Because the rods veer away from the kayak, one has a good chance of being able to stroll when this type is used.

For those who chose the attached type

If you use the straight type, it works best in keeping the rod in storage so one is able to keep the fishing rod in the middle of the kayak. Considered as a good option for the Cobra Navigator and the Tower model of a kayak is the straight type of fishing rod holder.

The home-made fishing rod holder

By using common PVC, one can also make his or her very own personalized fishing rod holder. Of, you can also begin by getting a milk crate and to attach it to a kayak, you can make use of straps.

Using the alternative type of fishing rod

Besides all of the fishing rod holders mentioned above, there is another type that could be placed just above the kayak. RAM as well as Titelock are what these tubes are usually called. As the latter’s name implies, it locks the rod in place and usually consists of a male and a female part. This part difference allows the two to be separated.

The Merit Of Boarding Falmouth MA Hotels

Demand for Falmouth MA hotels services has increased drastically because of the continuous growth in global business and tourism. Different types of inns exist depending on the interest and budget of the clients. The lodges are classified depending on their location and level of services offered.

To start with there are budget inns. These types will offer economical and limited services. The inns are usually located far from popular places. They offer the basic services such as bed and maybe breakfast meals. However, these hotels do not have a restaurant.

In addition, another class of lodges aims at serving people travelling by air. These are airport inns. As the name suggests, they are located close to airports. The Best Cape Cod Canal Fishing Areas

Undoubtedly nothing beats the rush of looking at a substantial striped bass smashing a top-water plug at the Cape Cod Canal. Nonetheless in relation to systematically catching good sized striped bass along the “Big Ditch,” centering on working the lower levels of the land cut usually pays off in the form of big stripers.

Nonetheless one can not simply just pitch a jig, bait or lure anywhere in the ditch and anticipate to be compensated with plenty of stripers. The Cape Cod Canal has its own productive areas and dead zones like most other striper fishing area on the striper coast. Being able to locate the extraordinary ledges, under water humps, rocky ledges and unremitting rips is key to consistently catching big bass off the bottom.

Bass flock to areas of structure like bees to honey. Frequently the fish will situate themselves at the bottom of a gulley, or directly behind a rock ledge. The structure disturbs the powerful current, virtually in a similar manner a building obstructs a harsh breeze.

Standard striper theory states that cow striped bass will make use of current blocking pieces of structure to acquire a competitive advantage on prey. The powerful Cape Cod Canal current propels different types of bait fish and prey items downcurrent. Opportunistic bass will take a spot in the back of a part of structure, then ambush prey while it tumbles within the swift current.

One of the most effective ways to find places worth fishing would be to pay attention to variations in the surface of the canal. Striped bass holding pieces of structure will regularly make disturbances in the normal flow of the current. Most likely, indications to the location of the bass attracting structure exhibits itself as a wake, ripple, whirlpool etc. on the surface of the canal.

Walking the banks of the Cape Cod Canal, or better yet driving your bike on the bike path, and keeping a close eye out for variations on the canal’s surface is a great option to at the least get an idea of where to fish.

Standing waves are perhaps one of the most tell-tale clue to an underwater rip. If you dig up an area with standing waves, the actual striped bass attracting structure will likely be found just up current from the waves. This applies with regards to any type of variation on the surface-the fishy structure will be a bit up current.

It is now time to zone in on the exact location of the structure you will be basing your fishing efforts around. This can be carried out by fan casting a spot using a jig or bank sinker. Be certain to utilize a jig or sinker hefty enough to arrive on the Canal’s bottom despite the powerful current. I normally start with four oz . and go heavier or lighter based on existing conditions.

Cast your bait, lure or jig up current and maintain a close count on the number of seconds it takes the lure to reach the Canal’s bottom. Obviously the shallower the water, the faster the lure will get to the bottom-the deeper the water, the longer.

For example, one excellent canal jigging spot I typically frequent each May and June has a large prominent peak in addition to a deep, steep hole. It takes my jig 7 seconds to reach bottom on the top of the peak. However when cast into the deep gulley, it can take my jig or lure more than 20 seconds to arrive on the bottom. Due to the difference in the amount of seconds required for my jig to reach bottom, I can be sure that I am effectively delivering my lure smack dab down the middle of the strike zone.

Fan casting a spot in this manner will undoubtedly be easiest during the last part of the west tide, slack tide, and the start of the east tide.

The Canal is full of terrific fishing hot spots. Even so it usually takes a lot of time and effort to find the most productive spots.

Nevertheless if systematically pulling large striped bass off the canal’s bottom is important to you, then the time expended in finding these excellent jigging spots will undoubtedly be worth the hard work needed to find them.
