How to build a website that people love

One of the craziest things I keep seeing is bloggers who spend a lot of time and effort in an attempt to attract new visitors but then give them no reason to stay or come back once they arrive. To me it’s the same no matter what market you’re in, if you want to create a successful site then you need to invest in your content and design, there’s no way around it.

Staying up to date is important with any type of site but even more so with a blog. Remember the date of each post is right there on the homepage, so it’s pretty clear to any new visitors if the blog has been forgotten about for the last 3 months. Never go more than a few weeks without posting.

If you want people to come back to your blog then they need to have something to come back for. There’s new and exciting things happening in every industry and you readers will expect you to be talking about it. Everybody wants to be the first to know and if you’re seen as the go to blog for what’s new success can’t be far away.

Some bloggers just love to write and write and this is great, but only if you can organise the information in the right way. If none of your content is categorised or tagged properly how do you expect people to find the area they are interested in? Not everyone who lands on your homepage is looking for the same thing.

Blogging is all about interaction, it’s the only way people can feel they have a real connection with the guy writing the posts. So answer any questions people have in the comments fast, also you can bet if one person has asked the question then there are a hundred more who are thinking it.

I hope these tips help you to create a better blog, let me know if they work for you.
