Holidays carp fishing in France

A milder climate and a large number of lakes make France the perfect location for carp fishing. The country is popular among Britons who travel across the Channel looking for a great catch. Some monster carp cross the 60 lbs mark, and are an angler’s delight. Depending on your budget and desired level of comfort, you ought to head out for some of the most beautiful lakes in France for a carp fishing holiday. Public lakes are inexpensive and considering that there are thousands across the country, you are sure to find a great catch since many are well stocked with carp. Permits are available at most angling shops or pubs.

Apart from public lakes, there are a number of privately owned lakes open for carp fishing. They offer accommodations that vary from camp-style to the luxurious and the chances of finding a large stock of carp is relatively high around these lakes. Don’t forget to carry a fishing map which is very useful when you are looking for suitable carp habitat. Besides French owned lakes, there are a number of British-owned lakes that cater to anglers. However, these are more expensive. Some public lakes are administered by local private clubs that look after the welfare of the lake, and are responsible for the administration, maintaining carp stock, and collection of fees from visitors. They usually charge a lower fee for carp fishing. Prior to setting out on your carp fishing holiday make sure the venue has a good record, as you wouldn’t want to jeopardize your whole holiday. Call up the owner if you are heading for a private lake and get as much information as you can. If you are a novice, the secret is to start in smaller lakes and slowly wind your way to the larger waters, otherwise, you may be disappointed. There are plenty of tackle shops in France, however, make sure you leave with the basics in your fishing kit since there might not be a good shop near you. Carry extra hooks, leads, and make sure to carry enough bait. Some areas do allow night fishing so make sure you carry lamps, batteries, and gas. Rules and regulations vary at carp lakes where some allow three rods while other permit four. Tiger nuts are not allowed as bait in most locations. So make sure to check with the local authorities prior to settling down. April through October is usually the best time for carp fishing. Head for Bordeaux if you want to experience night fishing, where it turns cooler at night during summer months. Privately owned lakes such as L’Etang du valentine’s chef de Ville, Rainbow Lake, and Eden’s lake offer all inclusive packages and are worth a try provided your budget permits. They will take care of your every need so that you can enjoy your carp fishing vacation. Most are run by expert anglers that are at hand for some advice and tips on how to make a good catch.

FLY FISHING – Mequens River, Brazil

The Amazonian region of Brazil is known for its great fishing rivers. This night time excursion on the Mequens River shows some of the easiest fishing in the world. The jumping fish shown in the video are MATRINCHA, a Brazilian fresh water species. In this case, you only need to bring a flashlight (torch) instead of a fishing rod. The matrincha is a silver scaled fish (some individuals have a pale gold appearance) with a compact body and small head looking not unlike a shad in appearance.

It is dark across the back with pronounced dorsal fin and a well developed adipose fin which is tipped with orange. It has strong square tail which is, only very slightly forked; a black marking occurs on the upper portion of the tail fin which extends down to the root of the anal fin which like the adipose can be in most specimens slightly orange.

A check on the Brazilian weight records indicates the matrincha can attain a weight of just over seven pounds, some say that it can grow even larger,  the fish we have taken on the Agua Boa have been in the region of one to three pounds.

I have recieved some information from friends here. They suggested to go down by
the spill way. They have been catching strippers there. another spot is by the
power plant. The water stays warm there year round. Some people catch some good
size crappii fish there.

I live within throwing distance (almost) from the river and fish almost every day when possible. Have been trying to stock my pond from the fish I catch out of the river…bass and catfish. I have some good size catfish in there now. Later all…Donna

Peacock Bass

Hello my friends…
We went to a fishing trip near home (30 miles from home) to fish for peacock bass.
It was a foggy morning with nice temperature. Water temp was 75 degrees.
I caught a nice peacock just in the first casts. 2 pounds 11 oz. 16 inches
Unfortunatelly my fishing partner doesn´t like to take photos. He always complains about it.
I asked him to take me a picture but forgot the camera was in manual mode. He just took without look and the lens were too much opened… the picure was too bright.
The other fish, I took myself a picture to show you…
I landed eight fish…. Four good fish with more than 2 pounds.  Release the four little and took four to eat with my father.
My partner landed only three little fish. He caught a good sized fish but let it out when it was close to the boat. (I think it was a punishment for his unwillingness LOL).

Fishing in Conroe Texas

My husband and I have lived her about seven years now.  We use to only salt water fish at Galveston, but since my spine surgery, I can't make the drive anymore.  So we would like to find some fishing spots near us.

Does anyone know or recommend some nice spots, the docks, cost and so forth on Conroe Lake?  We will be going out this Thursday if the weather is good, but not sure yet where to go, will do online searches.

My new adopted grandson will be joining us for the first time.  He is six and very excited about going boat riding.  Thanks everyone…Rose/Jude
